Voice Overs

I am a bilingual native speaker of Afrikaans and have a very neutral English accent. I am also experienced in the British voice over industry, as I spent 8 years living and working in London before moving back to South Africa. I am now based in Cape Town, working with professional recording studios close to my home.

I also enjoy the technical challenge which is dubbing. LOVE it! In fact, I adore spending time behind the microphone. It is the most satisfying work, where you can be barefoot and have a bad-hair day!

My voice has been described as warm, earthy, sensual, clear and authoritative. It lends itself well to corporate scripts like IVR, medical narration, e-learning, telephony and videos for web. I hold a Performing Arts Degree and love stretching my acting muscles in the booth. I also trained at The Actor’s centre in London and did an Advanced Acting for Radio course.

Feel free to listen to the mp3 clips on this page. Please get in touch if you need me to email you samples of a certain style of work or to discuss a project.

Below are some testimonials from happy clients:

“Working with Marinda could not have been better. I contacted her as I was having difficulty finding a female South African voice over artist and she was a dream come true! She helped us out with the record, but also put us in touch with others in her network to help out with our other project requirements. The read was spot on, no re-takes needed and the quality was perfect!”  Helen Routledge – Head of Design and Production at Totem Learning Ltd – London

“Marinda did voice over work for me on a kiddies mobile application in both afrikaans and english. Her work was concise, well organised, well adjusted for the target audience and the delivery time were impressive.” Carine van Zyl – iOS Contractor – South Africa

“Marinda completed a medical voiceover for me in very quick time, with a great studio and always kept in touch. A fantastic voice artist who is flexible and keen – highly recommended!”  Emily Jardine – Project Manager at Matinee Sound & Vision Ltd – United Kingdom

“I came across Marinda when I was looking for a South African woman to read a short story for broadcast on the BBC World Service. I really enjoyed working with Marinda. She was a true professional, turning up on time and fully prepared… she was absolutely superb and the broadcast sounded lovely. She really got to grips with a quite complex story in no time at all and got the hang of performing for radio very quickly. She needed very little direction from myself but the advice I gave her she listened to and acted upon accordingly. I highly recommend her work.” Penny Dale – Producer at BBC Worldwide Service

“ During the course we did together – Radio work / Voice Over – it was immediately apparent that Marinda had experience in this field. She had a good control of her voice, a very professional approach and we were all impressed by her command of Afrikaans. While Marinda is very focused and expects the best of herself, she is also warm, fun and a pleasure to work with in a studio.” Charlotte B – Freelance Performing Artist -UK
